In case anyone actually reads this…

Here’s some basic information about yours truly.

My name is Jessica.  I’ll be the rife old-age of 17 on Thursday.  I’m somewhat of a head case (which my mom likens to my age… I like to think it might just be complexity -_-).  I’ve never quite met someone who really gets my personality, which is probably because I don’t really get it myself.

I’m a product of two loving, supportive parents: a business/accounting teacher with a master’s degree and a production manager at a livestock agency (who once had big dreams of rewriting the rules of modern genetics).  I’m the youngest of three: my half-sister is 11 years older, studies (and runs her own) business, and always leaves a sparkle in my eye.  My brother is two years older than I and is studying to become a (today, civic; but it’s changed about 11 times this semester…) engineer.  As a family, we’ve had our bumps in the road, but as I hear horror stories from around the world about “families,” I become increasingly grateful for the beautiful life we’ve had together. :)

Hummm, let’s see.  Of all of my hobbies, I love music the most.  I’m a singer/songwriter, self-taught pianist, and soon-to-be self-taught guitarist.  (so many hyphens, so little time!)  Though I hate when people generalize and say “Oh, I like everything,” I can’t think of a genre I don’t regularly listen to.  As a side-note, I’d like to put a little piece in about my amazing jazz choir.  ”Voices Only,” is just as it sounds… vocal jazz, and only so.  All percussion is made orally, backgrounds, solos, etc.  It’s truly beautiful, and I’m blessed to have a school and community so supportive and accepting of the arts.

In the future, I’m looking forward to a jillion years of college and towards eventually being a professional in neuropsychology/behavioral science/cognitive science/whatever else I decide sounds interesting. ;)  I’m a little worried because math is my worst subject (but it’s a low A-/high B+, so I guess it’s not too terribly awful).  I’ll take the time now to vent my frustrations with trigonometric identities… I despise you.  Anyway, I’m fascinated by psychology and the structure and function of the human brain.  Academically, I’m probably strongest in writing/reading/grammar/liberal arts stuff, but I’ve never had to work for that and I truly love a challenge.

I’m bored now and watching SVU, so, tah-tah, imaginary readers!
